1185593 2011-03-16 02:35:00 Lithium batteries should be stored at about 3/4 charge which is what they should leave the factory at. 8 hrs to get from there to full charge is crap. A charger will only let it get to the proper voltage before it stops the charging process. The thought of "packing it extra full" the first time is a joke. Overcharging cannot happen or else there would be a few very nasty fires! linw (53)
1185594 2011-03-17 00:21:00 Yeah IIRC they get to around 95 / 98% and then "trickle charge" the power, or something along those lines? Chilling_Silence (9)
1185595 2011-03-17 01:45:00 Li btys don't need trickle charging as they don't self-discharge to any significant degree. All pro chargers shutoff when the terminal voltage is reached. It is just dangerous to do otherwise. linw (53)
1185596 2011-03-17 02:24:00 Well, new phone is all good @ 68% after a day, with a real long 1st charging period, so whether or not it was a dud or a farked up I dont know, but vodaphone as sorted it out! SolMiester (139)
1185597 2011-03-17 02:39:00 Yeah if you take your phone back to MobileFoneRepair yourself (Directly), and drop it off, they have a 2 hour turnaround on the iPhones, where if they can't fix it in two hours, they just give you a new one :D

Did that for a warranty repair on my iPhone 3G, the GPS was terribly inaccurate. Sat it down next to a mates and his homed in and became a dot within 2-3 seconds. Mine was still just the general "suburb" after 2 minutes and never got better. I was amazed when I realized how accurate the iPhone GPS could be, always just took it as being as bad as mine was for some reason :p
So yeah, was stoaked when it was replaced in about 90 minutes :D

Rubbish. We have a professional unit for our radio batteries and they are lion. They fast charge to about 90% and then go onto trickle charge until they are full. The unit reads how many charges it has had and at certain intervals will totally discharge them and recharge them to maximise their life.

Maybe your pro charger is just a cheap ripoff that tells you that it does not need a trickle charge.

1185600 2011-03-19 10:03:00 The point is that they don't hold a trickle charge after they reach the proper voltage. Yours has a two stage charge cycle but it stops at the right voltage. linw (53)
