1147686 2010-10-26 18:39:00 I used http://comgateway.com/ to import a smartphone earlier this year - I think it cost something like US$57.

Due to the cost, it's really not worth it unless the item you're buying is of significant value (although if it is, you need to factor in customs duties as well).

1147687 2010-10-29 07:13:00 Joined BuyUSA, NZ$5 for 12 months. Given a US address in Boise ID where items are aggregated and sent, in bulk, every 1/2 weeks to Auckland then forwarded via courier service.
So far so good. I had to change my ebay shipping address to the US one before the ebay system would let me buy them (obviously the vendors had blocked any o/seas buyers). Purchases went thro. via PayPal and I'm now waiting for confirmation that they've arrived in Boise.

1147688 2010-10-29 07:42:00 How much is the freight cost, martynz?

(I'm assuming the $5 that you paid was the membership fee?)

1147690 2010-10-29 08:41:00 Have a look at Buy USA: http://www.buyusa.co.nz/ Hope this helps :)

That's the one we used. Worked fine, costs were very reasonable, the only caveat was the poor packaging, and that was the fault of the seller, not the shipper.

Cheers

Both the items I've bought are cartridges/styli (in their original packaging) from established traders so I assume they will be well protected.

1147692 2010-11-06 10:04:00 So far so good!
I've had the usual ebay/Paypal notifications that the items had been despatched to my Boise address. Then yesterday got emails from Boise that the items had arrived, the website gave me the info. re dimensions & weight then when I entered the purchase prices and brief description it gave me the shipping cost NZ$34.72 per item but since they're both small items and being sent in the same shipment to NZ there is a saving so it's a total of NZ$34.72.

For that shipping price, you would expect delivery within a week or so, online tracking, insurance, similar to FedEx, which I used a few times.

1147694 2010-11-07 07:28:00 From what I gather from US forums, some sellers have enough problems sending within the US because of quality issues with UPS/USPS, I imagine the idea of sending overseas is more trouble than it's worth. Heck, sending to Canada is problematic...

The ones I'd heard of are Shipito and MyUSAbox, although I don't know anyone who's used them. Let us know how you go though, I'm going to need shipping agents for the US and Canada at some point!
