1146419 2010-10-26 00:32:00 I wonder when the tax payer funding of this crap will end??

Advert in today's local "free" paper" - Attached file: Te_Ara_Reo.jpg (www.imagef1.net.nz) (294 KB) SWMBO did the Level 1 Cert course a few years back and came home every so often with something free. Started with an embroidered leather substitute brief case, there was a dictaphone, a (Maori) talking alarm clock.... and the NZ atlas they got at "Graduation" - every statistic under the sun! I'm not decrying such generosity - I just wish Natcoll could run some courses like it

1146420 2010-10-26 01:15:00 Same mob that I did level three computing with. Course was free.

You could get three credits awarded for attending a Noho Marae and I do have to wonder what that had to do with IT.

I didn't go as I got 5 credits for each IT assignment. :)

Interesting. Clearly some forms of Education are free, whilst in the main, most young New Zealanders are entering the workforce with thousands of dollars worth of debt.

Personally, I think that the amount of debt some of our Students are allowed to accrue by was of Student Loans is obscene.

As a mater of interest tuiruru, apart from the “Perks”, ;) did the course produce anything worthwhile that went on to bigger things for SWMBO?

I agree with you about the personal loan. Having said that we've had some really bright (UE material) local “youngsters” look at the whole situation and say “WH*#k that” and gone and got themselves an apprenticeship – paid to work and learn, save hard, buy their own section by the time they're 21 or 2 and have enough about them to become their own boss. A lass I know will be joining the army in February – wants to become a medic, after basic training apparently gets a year's full time course and lots of hospital placements all paid for whilst having somewhere to live and being fed.

As for SWMBO – I'm using the embroidered leatherette briefcase to carry my lappy and......... I'm using the embroidered leatherette briefcase to carry my lappy. Apparently the course had 100% pass rate - so it seems worthwhile ?

1146424 2010-10-26 03:39:00 It would be nice to just have a living language, not that bothered about which one, I personally like Danish especially spoken by a lovely lady

Wait till I PM Mr's Gary about that one.....

1146425 2010-10-26 03:42:00 Its makes puke when I see all the maoris stuff in my passport, I am European English heritage. .
English huh.
First there were some people who came from who knows.
Then along comes
Romans
Vikings
Germans
French

Not necessarily in that order. All of whom had some stay and intermarry.
They then became the English.
All of it is silly really. How about we just be people.
Labradors and Alsations don't care - they think each other are just dogs.

Your absolutely right tuiruru, if you don’t need a “Specific University Degree” then you are far better off joining the workforce as soon as possible and proving yourself there .

However, if your chosen field requires a University Degree then I have no problem as a taxpayer supporting those with ability achieve their goals and don't believe they should be saddled with a huge debt for their efforts .

Actually, I could save the Taxpayer a fortune by closing Victoria University and turning it into a Brewery . Shame I’ve never seen any form of intelligent life pass through the gates there .

Whoops, I digress . :D

I know some people like that too. Let them off their leash and the attitude might change though.

Funny we don't see Labradations or Alsatidors running around, maybe they don't see eye to eye on reproductive matters, but come to think of it, they'd have a bit of a problem managing that, eye to eye I mean.

Labradoodles seem to be fairly common though.

Cheers
