1186840 2011-03-16 23:43:00 Just had the devil of a job getting back online after losing connection to the internet - which I'm not going to go into. What I want to know is: WHAT IS THE D4 GATEWAY "NUMBER" FOR A LINKSYS MODEM? I have an AM300 purchased here in NZ from Dick Smith. Thanks amyes5 (2773)
1186841 2011-03-16 23:48:00 Read the manual? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1186842 2011-03-16 23:52:00 D4 Gateway?

Sure you didn't mishear someone say "Default Gateway" ?

Why do you want to know?

1186843 2011-03-17 00:16:00 The default IP Address for the AM300 is 192.168.1.1

(I have several of them, damn fine routers they are!!)

1186844 2011-03-17 00:17:00 Possibly it was "default" rather than D4.Had dealt with a number of overseas call centres!!! The reason I want to know is having been given a new password by Telecom I was recomended to change it after getting back on to the internet. The only option I can see is to go thru the install process again which I don't really want to do.My impression from what I had been told is that the PW can be changed via this "gateway" Or have I got it all wrong. No manual with original modem just a CD. amyes5 (2773)
1186845 2011-03-17 00:19:00 Thanks Chilling for the info. amyes5 (2773)
1186846 2011-03-17 00:41:00 There is usually a PDF of the manual on the CD. Have a look. CliveM (6007)
1186847 2011-03-17 01:04:00 Yes if you open your browser and go to:
http://192.168.1.1
Default user / pass is "admin"

On the front page, halfway down is your username (Which shouldn't change) and your password. Change it there, scroll down and hit Submit.

Easy :)

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Chill.

1186848 2011-03-17 02:54:00 Thanks for that Chilling. If I had had internet access I would have come here right from the start rather than being passed from Call centre to call centre around the world. All this info now stored away safely for the next time it happens. amyes5 (2773)
