1187069 2011-03-17 22:52:00 Hi, in case I lose mine, can someone advise any security software that I can use? It needs to work in restricted computers, ie . , computers not mine etc . .

Also, applying the same receipe to portable hard drives are they still applicable or not practical enough with the many GBs?

Cheers .

1187070 2011-03-18 00:21:00 So, you are looking for something that needs a password maybe so that if you were to lose your USB stick, I wouldn't be able to view your documents, porn, music, bank statements etc..........?

You could encrypt the whole stick with something like TrueCrypt if that is the direction you want to go.

Or are you looking at this from another angle.

1187071 2011-03-18 01:07:00 Yes, TrueCrypt is FTW.

You could have the first partition that's like 20MB, JUST for TrueCrypt. Then, have a hidden partition that's TrueCrypt encrypted!

I wouldn't use anything *but* TrueCrypt personally, for that kind of thing. It's amazingly awesome!! :D

1187072 2011-03-18 01:40:00 Would Truecrypt be able to access this on a restricted login account? Like cafes, hotels, school etc? Nomad (952)
1187073 2011-03-18 01:49:00 It can be run portable. www.truecrypt.org so unless executables are blocked it will do the job Renegade (16270)
