1148284 2010-10-28 04:26:00 Where can I obtain advice on mobile phones please? Mine has decided to expire - sigh.... I only want to make and receive calls and make and receive texts... preferably long battery life and I would prefer a flip open type rather than having to press a myriad of buttons to unlock the phone to answer it....

Is there a forum which deals with this type of question?

TIA

1148285 2010-10-28 05:22:00 Well there's more to it. Like what features do you want? How much do you want to spend? You'll still have to press buttons to send a txt, and to read one Speedy Gonzales (78)
1148286 2010-10-28 06:15:00 Oops. Flip phones are less common on the NZ markets (from what I see). There are more candybar phones on the low-end market. (was that the right terminology? I meant phones that don't have any moving parts to get it working.)

You'll have to start searching around for a phone you think you'd like. Note: Telecom XT, Vodafone and 2Degrees mobile can work with any SIM, but there's no guarantees on it.

Anyway, try finding reviews on the net. Just type in Google the phone model number, followed by the word "reviews". CNET is a good net (American one), though there are others.

Good luck getting a new phone!

1148287 2010-10-28 06:26:00 Just happened to see this one (www.vodafone.co.nz) on one of the advertisements. I've never used it though. LynX (14542)

There are only a few Voda and 2D (GSM) supplied fones that will work on XT (WDCMA) so if you want to use Telecom you will need on from them and they will all work on Voda and 2D or look on Trademe. I bought an x AT&T LG Incite from TM and it works 3G on all NZ carriers..

I've never used it though. One I have is very Similar to that - It's by Nokia Via Vodafone (dont use it now as the sound went a bit funny from being dropped to many times :o )- Real basic phone and far better than the current one I have - the flip lid protects the keypad inside, that still looks good, the out side looks like a war zone.

Heres what I mean:outside Cover (www.imagef1.net.nz) - Inside (www.imagef1.net.nz)

1148290 2010-10-28 09:55:00 I will prefer Nokia brand for you
Samsung is also nice but its resale value is not good.
Sony Ericsson battery timing is not good
LG mobile users are having speaker problem
Rest the choice is yours

I had one of those broke the outside camera lens on it so replaced with a $99 phone that makes calls and sends texts and that's about it real budget
