1148074 2010-10-27 01:03:00 Apparently Google have ramped up their "place pages" within their popular Business Google Maps, by uploading photo's from contract photographers worldwide. You can of course add your own.

Seems Google want to "sweep out" online directories (as quoted), which admittedly are too textual and generic. Can only be good for those that have a online web site business - as described here. (searchengineland.com)

1148076 2010-10-27 09:15:00 Many online NZ business get back links from Yellow Pages, Finda, and dozens of other directories to try rank in the search results. But I think many online searchers don't visit them, and many directories have no real "earned" content of their own as I read from search engine experts. Many are skeletal with just links, then want you to pay for premium listings.

All the better for Google place pages, in addition to their standard web search directly. Plus their maps which feature prominently for some businesses in the standard search results.
