1147866 2010-10-26 23:52:00 Yea, I always hear people say how they die after a certain number of writes, but I thought it was only a few thousand :p

1147868 2010-10-27 00:26:00 I'm more likely to lose one than wear it out!!! :D johcar (6283)
1147869 2010-10-27 01:26:00 Interesting, but if not 90 % full, it might last longer. Or if larger more complex files (e.g. Images), or boot files used, etc are written, might last shorter. kahawai chaser (3545)

6 months ago, i brought my first 16gb usb flash drive, put a ton of files on it, then 2 days later I lost it at my friends house. I was so gutted, turned the house upside down looking for it a few times over the next couple weeks. Anyway, the other day it turned up, and i was over the moon, so many files recovered :)

I tried to, honest, but then I saw a big equation and closed the window :p

1147872 2010-10-27 05:12:00 I hear that making a flash drive swap partition ("virtual RAM") will kill it really good. Which makes me wonder: does Windows' ReadyBoost do that to flash drives too? LynX (14542)

Geez! With the results I get with things L-based, I bet I could kill it in 20 --- no, make that 15 --- NO, make the 5 cycles.
