| 1147791 | 2010-10-26 08:03:00 | Found out today why our HD SW is so crap and has "issues" several times a day. Made by Symantec. |

| 1147793 | 2010-10-26 08:07:00 | Although I haven't used Symantec's one, I can't imagine it being any worse than CA Unicenter Service Desk. That application has some seriously infuriating "features". See if you can talk your employer into using http://www.beetil.com/ |

| 1147794 | 2010-10-26 08:30:00 | I used Beetil at work for a while (admittedly a year or so ago now) and found it quite average. Now we use a product called ServiceDesk Plus (www.manageengine.com) by ManageEngine. It's basically fault mgmt plus asset management. It scans your network and keeps tabs on all your devices (computers, as well as printers, switches and anything with SNMP enabled) as well as faults as Beetil does. You can assign faults against a particular piece of hardware (and/or user). It runs on a local server too so it's fast :) Check it out (they have an online test drive)! Not expensive either. |

| 1147795 | 2010-10-26 09:34:00 | There again PCTEK, being a very new employee, would hardly be in a position to recommend new Help Desk software as that would make the managers wrong so she would be down the road as a troublemaker maybe. I'm not saying she would be wrong. |

I'm not saying she would be wrong. I'm not even an employee - just a contracter. They know anyway. There are a large number of amazing stupid things here. Like not recording staff and/or room/bldg whatever on the assest register. The asset register only has financials on it. So no-one has a clue what happens to stuff. |

I use SD+ when I do contract work for a large organisation. It is a really good system. My work is going to start using connectwise soon. That looks like a good system too, but can't really say for sure until we go live. SD+ is better suited to an in-house IT team & connectwise is better suited for a small IT shop like my work. |
