1187258 2011-03-19 05:54:00 I don't know VB, but I'll point you to something you may find useful: QB64. Go to QB64.net to download it and see forums etc. It's just like QuickBASIC (remember that?) but it supports (and will support) fancier stuff including loading graphics with a single command, high-res graphics, Windows-based compiled programs (not DOS like QB) and will (I'm hoping, and many others are hoping too) direct talking to USB stuff (webcams etc.) It's still in beta (0.927 at last look), is available on Linux, Mac and Windows (code portability - how awesome is that?) but is still worth a download. mookster1 (15854)

Do you have a any/purpose for using VB. No point in me showing you a link to a vid on how to make a web browser when you want to make a M$ office clone.

BTW VB 2010 is out. You should update.

First I want to learn the basics, then maybe learn how to use controls, extended stuff, etc

I'm trying to install vb 2010 from the web. Its downloaded but it hung when it got up to the .net framework. Is there any way I can get the files and retry it offline?

Theres quite a few resources I use for VB. I use this site which requires a pay membership but it very good value www.learnvisualstudio.net. For free resources to give you the basics you could try www.homeandlearn.co.uk/net/vbnet.html or windowsclient.net

Can't seem to find a stand alone installer for VS.net 2010 express. May have to search for a fix to the install issue

Cheers
