1188412 2011-03-22 06:59:00 Error message "Windows Defender encountered an error : 0x000705b4. Seems the error was that it had timed out and was not responding.

The op system is Vista Ultimate.

Tried Microsoft, their advise was to delete it, download another copy and install it. But again it would not turn on, with an error message just as listed above.

To me it would seem that the problem is local, but I don't know where to start to try and fix the problem.

Any thoughts ?

1188414 2011-03-22 08:01:00 Are you using Microsoft Security Essentials by any chance?

Good spotting LL.

Hey thanks Snorkbox. I would never have thought that MSE and Defender could not live together. Guess I might as well dump Defender.

Yep. I use MSE and defender I uninstalled.

But you really have to thank Lakewood Lady for asking the question as it reminded me.
