1149704 2010-11-02 06:14:00 Hmm, surprised.

My new semi-budget Asus board for AMD processor came with USB3 - albeit as a seperate PCI board to slot in.

Admittedly, there's nothing else in the house that can benefit from USB3, but it's weird that Intel aren't charging in to support it.
Do have to wonder if the heat generated by the higher speed is a problem.

1149705 2010-11-02 06:30:00 Agreeing with some of the article's comments, apple (or jobs) need to sack up and say "i'm wrong" then people wouldn't get annoyed. if he had said "intel are not supporting USB 3.0, and instead waiting for LP which will offer faster speeds and reliability" instead I think people would be much happier. instead he blames intel. now everyone is in a bad mood. win for society (and AMD) The Error Guy (14052)

I wonder if that is one of those things you hear of,then they disappear, never to be heard from again.

1149708 2010-11-02 07:40:00 I actually wondered this the other day. I've been sort of waiting for cheapish 3.0 peripherals to utilise my lovely NEC controller.

That said, I think it will be necessary to eliminate all/most of the speed barriers at once before pcs hit their next evolution. Like, SSD's needing to become cheaper and even faster.

But yeah DO WANT usb 3.0

The transition from 1 to 2 was painless,I thought.
