1149900 2010-11-03 01:17:00 pctek's got the right idea here. Melt some butter in a pan, chuck the sliced cabbage in, add a bit of soy sauce and Bob's your uncle. roddy_boy (4115)
1149901 2010-11-03 01:24:00 Never boil it.
Saute it gently in a little butter.

And why not try a few other veges? Cauli maybe?

Sounds good, will try this
Im quite a boring cook and generally just boil up the veges etc and throw some gravy on them. Just getting sick of boiled cabbage thats all:sleep
Cabbage is one of the cheapest veges at the moment to, half a cabbage will last me two or three meals easy
I do eat other veges

Thanks pctek

1149902 2010-11-03 01:47:00 Heat a tablespoon of oil or butter and 1 tsp whole Caraway seeds in a frypan.
When seeds become aromatic add the shredded cabbage then saute til done as you prefer.
(I like cabbage a bit on the crunchy side, personally)

Garlic is another good addition to cabbage BTW

1149903 2010-11-03 02:13:00 Garlic is the devils spawn, no wonder it keeps vampires at bay it's truly great at disguising the taste of food.

Oh and Bob has never been my Uncle it's a vicious rumour.

1149905 2010-11-03 04:59:00 Slice thinly (5-9mm wide strips), soak in cold water.

Cut streaky bacon into pieces, fry in a wok with a couple of tablespoons of oil until the bacon is crispy. Drain the cabbage, add to the wok and stir fry until the cabbage is cooked (don't add any extra water).

Well, there you go. That's why.
Why not do a stirfry? Cabbage, onion, carrot. Whatever you happen to find lurking at the bottom of the fridge. And a splash of soya sauce. Mmm, tastes better than it sounds.....

Maybe add a small amount of sugar, and toss for no more than two minutes.

And never, ever boil it!
