1149654 2010-11-02 05:36:00 we got a letter from someone in masterton to say that there is one on, was one last year in Wellington but no word of one this year
That's the sort of thing I mean - it hasn't been "pushed". Anyone seen any TV ads for it?

1149656 2010-11-02 06:29:00 That would be handy, I see plenty of LCD monitors going in there that I could make some good use of.

Sure you don't want to take a look at what they've left on the hard drive?

Which is a whole issue in itself

Nope...

I dumped at the Nelson location last time and there was a large notice advising that stuff could not be removed from the site. Considering the hundreds of people arriving, each with many boxes of parts and componenents, I should imagine if ratting about looking for goodies was permitted it would create absolute mayhem.

Most LCD monitors can be fixed with about $10 worth of new capacitors in the PSU.

New CCFL backlights are also rather cheap (compared to a new monitor) as well.

Oh yeah, and the stuff you do throw away gets sent to Africa where it gets burned. Really environmentally friendly!

1149662 2010-11-03 03:42:00 If there's anyone in Dunedin that has an old case that will fit a Micro AXT mobo ... with or without PSU and other bits n pieces ... I'd take it off your hands ... especially if it's got a front USB port !!

Trying to build a cheap (like nill $) system for a friend & thier kids who can't afford a computer. Have Gigabyte mobo, P4 with 1Gig RAM, HD, CD/DVD writer, keyboard & mouse ... trying to scrounge up the other bits required.
