1149549 2010-11-01 22:13:00 When i went to Fiji years ago, in think they are banned over there, but they have a blackmarket. These guys staying with us brought these huge bangers that looked like what the army would use. Honestly they were the size of your hand. Anyway these guys nearly got kicked out of the resort for letting them off. They sounded like a shotgun going off.
Wonder if you can still get them over there....good times

1149550 2010-11-01 23:11:00 Home made acetylene bangers, using empty 10 or 20 litre plastic containers. Wow.! Never forgotten. :) :) BobM (1138)
1149551 2010-11-01 23:22:00 You can also use coal gas for the same purpose. Snorkbox (15764)
1149552 2010-11-01 23:30:00 I don't think fireworks really have any relevance even in England anymore. I mean lets face it, it is to celebrate a spectacular failure gary67 (56)

1149554 2010-11-01 23:57:00 i think it's stupid that nzers can freely buy small explosives purely for entertainment with no license. they should atleast have a short course that is mandatory for buying them. jareemon (5207)

1149556 2010-11-01 23:59:00 I voted to slightly relax the restrictions. It seems that every year they add more rules in regarding the sale and use. There's now only a 4 day period in which you can buy them. You can't buy sparklers on their own. Too many rules like that.

Personally, I love fireworks. I buy a reasonable amount each year (maybe not so much this year), and I also get a few from other sources. I have a reasonable stockpile of sky rockets that's always growing... They're all really old but most of them still work :D

1149557 2010-11-02 00:08:00 Unfortunately, I think its a lose-lose situation. If you keep the status-quo, then there will always be idiots who get drunk, do stupid things, etc etc, whereas if you outlaw them, then you'll get people trying to make their own, or a black market.

Lets ban idiots instead ;)

Although I see nothing wrong with people buying fireworks (or 'improving' them), so long as they're safe about it.

1149558 2010-11-02 00:25:00 more information, please :)

So you think there should be a course and now you want information on making much larger explosives than you can buy?

Hypocritical much?
