I was 18 y/o at the time, and going to UC-Irvine pre-med at the same time I was attending my last semester in high school in Huntington Beach - Class of '64. Funny - I had seen all the special stuff like grandstands and backdrops there - but they had either been making or had made 'Logan's Run" there and I thought it was just more of that stuff. I had had it with the studios by that time. I hung around a nephew of Alan Ladd and I got into a few movies as an extra and walk-past type guy. The girl at that dinner was Gina Greene and a dizzier blonde I've never met since. No - I never married her. My mom wanted to take her to get her hair done at a shop she used (ready for this???) It was owned by Cher's or Sonny's mom in Newport Beach - they used to play as Anthony & Cleopatra in earlier times before that. Just a day in the California sun and dinner afterward. Little did I know that LBJ was gonna sprawl all over our table or I'd have brought a camera. But then again, I bet the Secret Service guys would take it away from me. |
