1188768 2011-03-23 19:35:00 Hi guys, the boxes have their OEM license, but I only have Volume License media....anyone have OEM ISO I can download? SolMiester (139)
1188769 2011-03-23 20:01:00 There's a way to change the media type :xmouth: pcuser42 (130)
1188770 2011-03-23 20:06:00 Just one other thing to be made aware of , not all OEM keys will work on the OEM CD.

Meaning - if its an old key, lets say issued with SP1, then most of the time you cant use a XP Pro OEM With SP3 - it wont accept it, even though its legal and legit. You have to use a SP1 CD, then upgrade the service packs. A real PITA Had that happen the other day :annoyed:

I got the whole lot SP1 - SP3 But not to sure where to upload to, so you can download. My upload speed is not exactly fast from my server. ( its not meant to be)

1188771 2011-03-23 21:09:00 You can convert VL media to OEM.
I had to do something like this the other day with Server 2003 media - wainui knows all about that :D
Copy the entire contents of the VL CD to a temp folder on the HDD.
Browse to the i386 folder and look for a file called setupp.ini.
See here for more info:

Basically remove the last 3 digits of the PID and replace with OEM.

Once you've done that you could try and burn back to a CD but that takes too long and can be a pain trying to make it bootable.
I just used this: www.datafilehost.com to create a bootable USB stick, makes the install much faster.

1188772 2011-03-23 22:19:00 Yeah it's safer to change your VLK media type than it is to try and find a matching "media", because there's multiple types of OEM Keys / media.
HP / Compaq OEM, IBM OEM, Toshiba OEM, Generic OEM, Acer OEM etc etc ....
