| 1461540 | 2019-06-15 23:57:00 | Just looking at this Smoke Alarm with 10 years Battery Warranty. (www.bunnings.co.nz) Am I right to say that it carries a 10 years warranty as the battery is sealed? I don't expect them to honour a $10 product for 10 years! Further more, how many people will keep the receipt for 10 years? Is this model OK ? |

These ones, never had any problems , yes they are sealed so you cant remove the battery. And yes the warranty is 10 years. SWMBO just laughed when I read out your post, as she sometimes tests the one in the hall every so often (next to the kitchen) ;) |

| 1461544 | 2019-06-16 01:38:00 | Bought 2 from Bunnings, one to replace my very old one and the other for another location. Another question: Is it OK to install it on a wall or it has to be on the ceiling? |

Another question: Is it OK to install it on a wall or it has to be on the ceiling? Ceiling generally, but Where to locate alarms Alarms should ideally be installed on the ceiling, at least 200 mm from a wall or a ceiling beam to avoid dead air space. With sloping ceilings the alarm should be 200500 mm from the apex. An alternative (but not preferred) position is high on a wall, at least 100 mm from the ceiling and 600 mm from corners to avoid dead air pockets. To reduce the risk of false alarms or faults, do not install: in a kitchen, garage or bathroom near a heat source such as a heat pump or solid fuel burner in damp or draughty areas. Does happen though. :) I know of a couple of people who keep receipts going back years, only ones they don't keep is from places like the supermarket (groceries) The Receipts for mine are in a container I have, if I had to fin them I could, but more important ones like the TV, or any cooking appliances SWMBO has brought are in a box in the office. |

If they are thermal may pay to copy them as they have a habit after a couple of years of fading away. |

| 1461548 | 2019-06-16 20:42:00 | I've bought some of the FireAngel wireless ones. They have a 10 year sealed battery. Very expensive, but the idea of one going off in my garage triggering the one in my bedroom sounds good. |

| 1461549 | 2019-06-16 22:55:00 | I've got a question.... given so many people around the country have dumped their older, unreliable smoke alarms, how many people have discarded them in a 'safe' manner, given the small quantity of radioactive material within them (Americium) is an unwanted environmental polutant and health hazard. Have they gone to a hazardous goods collection site (as per the advice on the back of the alarm), or has the whole country just dumped them with their household refuse? I'm betting there may have been a million of these dumped into the general refuse during the scandal about their poor performance. |
