1460650 2019-05-13 03:42:00 looks like theres trouble brewing again with Gmail, typical change things around and some apps wont be able to login using a gmail address.

While this relates to Mailwasher you can bet your boots it will impact quite a few other apps, including some email clients, in two days time.

From 15 May 2019, GMail has decided that all security and anti-spam apps can no longer use their existing system for adding email accounts in to applications

See it all the time, mind you we are not talking a few people, its not uncommon to have 10+ calls within a week when they change something. The biggest offender is that crappy Thunderbird, a while back it even came up saying Thunderbird was not secure enough. only option was to change the settings to allow insecure applications, then it worked.

Last change,Even Outlook 2019 according to gmail was to old and needed to be updated, figure that one out ;)

1460653 2019-05-13 06:08:00 Thunderbird uses OAuth if it's been setup recently- actually works better than Outlook in regards to Gmail security currently. wratterus (105)
1460654 2019-05-13 06:59:00 I've never had a problem, but then I strictly restrict M$ applications and avoid letting them have web access if they do get on my system. Thunderbird has certainly not given me any bother.
I haven't used Outlook this century. I have a toilet roll holder thats more trustworthy for sending messages. :banana

1460655 2019-05-13 22:59:00 For me personally I just stopped using Email clients and moved to web based mail quite some time ago.
I find it suits me much better, partly because I have a habit of reading my Mail on whichever device is handy.

The only exception is my smartphone, I use the samsung email app on that.

1460656 2019-05-13 23:20:00 Google have made I think a very popular GMail App which benefits millions worldwide. What's to stop them from creating/or enhancing (within GMail) a anti-spam App? Seems they don't like - or trust other Apps connecting or intruding to their Gmail. kahawai chaser (3545)

1460658 2019-05-14 03:41:00 If you are still using Windows Live mail you have to go into gmail and allow unsecure apps ( been that way for a while), Live mail is simply to old and insecure (according to gmail) wainuitech (129)
