1460670 2019-05-25 21:30:00 I log into MS Outlook (Office 365 Home) and now up comes a screen asking me to login to my Gmail Acct - but it is my alternate Gmail acct which I rarely use.
Sometimes I just click Esc and can proceed to Outlook. Other times It reuses to let Outlook receive emails (sending is fine).
When I log in to Gmail I overwrite the alternate Gmail account and enter my main one . I then get asked to enter my name then get told a 6 digit number will be sent to my email address BUT that Gmail screen stays fixed so I cannot go to my Outlook Inbox to receive the code nrs.
.

It seems to me it's not gmail, it's your settings in Outlook,

.Its gmail wanting you to authenticate who you really are. It happens a LOT when they fiddle with settings. Its not confined to Outlook, seen this happen more times than I care to remember with Thunderbird and other email clients as well.

This is one reason (sending a code Via email) is a BAD idea. Often the authentication window stays open till you put in the security code. Its a lot easier when you select the txt option to be sent to your phone.

You can always try going in Via web mail to the account you need access to the code, BUT it can also be a catch 22, it may require a email being sent out to which you cant confirm - again better to use txt.

Seen many times people have old email addresses or ph numbers they no longer use for some (many) reasons and don't change the security / recovery options on their working account.

Easy enough to get past the open window in Outlook to open a browser, simply Windows Key +D = instant desktop :)

As per the title of this post - Funny how this all happens AFTER GMAIL change their requirements in THEIR setting ;) :p
