1457994 2019-02-06 22:42:00 when I see "speeds of up to" ... I detect some marketing BS, possibly :)
Like when they state USB3 theoretical speeds rather than the actual device speed

Im sure SSD's are available in USB cases...... more commonly USB HD's have slow slow internal drives .

I hardly ever use my WD NAS now. I just plug in an old school USB HD & backup to that .

It's actually USB3.1 and customers have seen them perform at 300-400MB/sec.

Im finding people are getting more & more impatient with IT now. They want instant everything ... wait a few hours , yeah right ..... :clap
last week had a client who wouldnt wait the 3minutes or so for updates to install on startup. Kept restarting the PC .

looks like they have quality control/reliabilty issues , from Amazon reviews .
Its definitely the way of the future once reliability is sorted out .

definitely. we live in a world of facebook, twitter, instagram now. going overseas with mobile data and live broadcasting. that said, while some devices can transfer at 300-500MB/sec if there are many smaller files it's unlikely going to reach those speeds but still quicker than a normal HDD.

And yet Im still stuck with creaky old ADSL at my Ak suburban adress . no fibre, no VDSL, no Wireless internet :badpc:
Wish they would trial some workers to roll out fibre to the rest of Ak.

1457999 2019-02-07 06:56:00 4G wireless for us as we can only get ADSL2 if we put in a phone line, but the clowns who put the services into this laneway put our conection 250m from the building platform, that would be one big trench so not worth spending money on. gary67 (56)
