1189722 2011-03-27 00:24:00 Hi Everyone
I have a problem with Real Player. It will not open anything such as music, it says I need to download new software and takes me to download site of Adobe. When I attempt to download it tells me I have the latest version.I am running Windows XP,I also had a problem with U Tube with the same problem but fixed this by disengaging accelerator. Am I missing something ??
Kind regards

1189725 2011-03-27 02:01:00 Are you looking for something just to use for playing movies and music? I recommend Movie player classic home cinema (MPC) or Video Lan (VLC) both are good, both are free and can play many many file types. If your looking at playing music online make sure you have installed the plug ins for your browser as well gary67 (56)

1189727 2011-03-27 02:23:00 Depends what format whoever uses, on what you use. If they use a file WMP plays, there's not much you can do about it Speedy Gonzales (78)
1189728 2011-03-27 03:29:00 I use Winamp for streaming audio, doesn't matter if the stations says WMP, the file types can be set in Winamp.

Some stations have sound archives which in the US may be governed by copyright replay issues. These may be doctored so you can't scroll through the .asx file with WMP. With Winamp you can.

Real Player has just become so much bloat. Some people like it, but it was originally for just playing back Real Audio files. Windows Media Classic will do that for a fraction of the bloat.

Or as Gary says get MPC or VLC for video, but I'd give RP a miss, it also used to install spyware like Comet Cursor, but don't know whether it still does.

1189730 2011-03-27 05:52:00 I use VLC.

It's a bit daunting at first but it's really good for playing back files.
