1150574 2010-11-05 19:38:00 In what may be a most-hotly disputed border war between New Zealand and Australia, the contested border wars seems to have no real resolution in the next hundred years or so .

Brickbats and rubble have ofter pelted native Kiwis and Aussies as each lies in ambush for the other - sometimes sitting in trees - to lob hand-thrown projectiles at each other .

Even if it appears that the DMZ-border is clearly defined by a somewhat skimpy water mass between the two island-nations (OK - one is a continent - but let's not quibble), one can always go to Google Maps and check the latest meanderings for the latest Mercator-Projection of the DMZ between the two countries .

F'rinstance - another recent Declaration Of War that was promulgated by Google Maps - this time in Costa Rica has inflamed passions and downright disrespectful name-calling of border town inhabitants::

(excerpt from Good Morning Silicon Valley)

“Dear Costa Ricans: Never before have we had to be united when the aggression and provocation test us . Let us be calm and firm, amid the outrage that these events provoke within us .

— Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla ( . cnn . com/2010/WORLD/americas/11/04/costa . rica . nicaragua . dispute/" target="_blank">edition . cnn . com)

. . . . . . . . . . in a televised address as her country tries to resolve a dispute with Nicaragua over a piece of land on the Atlantic coast . According to Search Engine Land ( . com/nicaragua-raids-costa-rica-blames-google-maps-54885" target="_blank">searchengineland . com), a Nicaraguan commander told La Naciòn, a Costa Rican newspaper, that his troops raised a flag in the disputed area because Google Maps indicates that it belongs to his country .

A Google representative told the newspaper the company doesn’t know how the error occurred .

Attention, Microsoft marketing department: Apparently, La Naciòn says that Bing Maps shows the border officially recognized by both countries .

Every night the local gentry,
Sneak out past the sleeping sentry.
They go to join the old VC.
In their nightly little dramas,
They put on their black pajamas,
And come lobbing mortar shells at me. - Tom Paxton :punk
