1152172	2010-11-18 00:33:00	Corruption is one of the very, very limited ways of obtaining a decent lifestyle in many Asian countries. The company my father worked for in Indonesia for example - his colleagues had no trouble or qualms raising quotes etc for customers only to pocket the differences themselves. The average corrupt salesman of this company would easily get some $70k a year as opposed to the meager $15k a year or so they would otherwise get. My father found it hard to be so dishonest - our family struggled financially for many years because he refused to do the same as his colleagues. Many of his colleagues always pressured him and belittled him because he wouldn't do the same, so eventually it all got too much (and on top of the riots etc that came too close to our neighbourhood and money crisis) they decided to move to NZ here in search of a better life.	qazwsxokmijn (102)

You sound just like that prat Paul Henry, thinking that the Gov Gen wasn't a real NZer because he doesn't look like Henry (thank goodness). You conveniently forget all the other Kiwi corruption committed by people who look like I imagine you look. Think about the blokes that ripped off the Otago DHB for millions. Think about the corrupt Rodney Hide, Bill English, and all their fellow 'Kiwi' MPs who have ripped us off for thousands of dollars because they felt entitled to. Think about Petricevic, and all those other corrupt financiers who have ripped off 'Mum and Dad' NZers for all their life savings, and then go bankrupt, having salted all their fellow Kiwi investors' money in family trusts. What about those bankers (Fay and Richwhite) who ripped off the taxpayer over the NZ Railways, and then shot through to England when their activities were questioned? You are just indulging in a racist rant - corruption is endemic, and you are only pointing out the Asian perps because it fits your prejudices. Grow up.	John H (8)

You sir are a wise man. :clap Humans are capable of all sorts of crimes; there's little benefit in allocating certain types of crimes to any particular races. Every breathing humans on this planet is capable of committing horrendous crimes. Greed, selfishness....it's pretty much ingrained in our heads. I'm not denying many Asians are corrupt; but so are many whites, blacks, browns, whatever. Only the racist or ignorant few succeed in convincing themselves that certain crimes are best or most often committed by certain races. I really hope the actions of the few corrupt Asians in this country does not taint the Asian image in general, but unfortunately this would probably prove untrue and will certainly be used to fuel the gratification of racist bigots (of which in this forum there are two that I know). 1152176	2010-11-22 09:35:00	I think if foreigners come to NZ to live and work behavior should be beyond reproach as its a privilege to live here, the least the foreigners can do is be exemplary citizens. Does not matter if you are from communist china or Albania play by our rules or get deported.	prefect (6291)
