1189547 2011-04-29 13:05:00 FF 3.6 works perfectly with 99% of downloads, FF 4 1/2 the times either hangs or times out - other browsers, no problems.
I can't remember whether it was three or four but on one install there was a problem with downloads and I seem to remember deleting a file that had become corrupted and everything worked perfectly after that. I also recall hearing that by clearing the list within Downloads can help as sometimes the list grows too large.
I actually use Flashgot so haven't used FF's download manager often.

When looking at the crash reports on mine, the majority are adobe flash crashing, but without it, most of the sites dont load correctly, every thing is fully upto date, uninstalled fully, reinstalled makes no difference.
Quite frankly I will be quite happy to see the end of Flash. I remember one version of it that was a complete dog. It has been working alright for me on the five FF4 installs I have. I must admit only one is on Windows.

1189548 2011-04-29 13:42:00 Some were complaining about no status bar. Look at the top of the tab while a page is loading.

If I wanted the status bar in the tab I wouldn't complain about the lack of a real status bar would I?

When ever I download something, I always clear the lists and move what ever it is to another location (folder or flash drive), I cant see any point in having a long list of items once they are complete.

Flash - that can be a PITA - had a job a few weeks ago, it was problems with flash and IE8 - got it in the end, but normal uninstall, reinstall didn't work. Took a while to find a solution that actually worked.

Have removed FF4 now, after saving bookmarks, put back 3.6 and so far its sweet as - Downloads are next to instant again (pop up window asking where to save). :)

PS: thanks for the input

1189550 2011-04-29 23:13:00 Flash for online videos is terrible, too much resource overhead and practically no benefit over having video playback integrated into the browser Agent_24 (57)

I'm sure you must have noticed by now, but the status info is also displayed bottom left while loading or over a link - hover over a link and see...

also, if you want the "old" status bar back exactly as it was
addons.mozilla.org

which you probably also know already :)

and yea. flash must be one of the worst formats invented!

I have been on some PC's where they have had near hundreds in the list.
