| 1152224 | 2010-11-12 06:12:00 | At least Telstra send out a mailer apologizing . TelstraClear email issue update TelstraClear would like to apologise to all customers affected by the Clear . net and Paradise email service outages earlier this week . We are able to confirm that no emails were lost as a result of the outage . Some customers experienced a delay in receiving emails after all services were restored on Tuesday, most likely as a result of synchronising issues between our servers and individual email accounts . The cause of this week's Paradise and Clear . net email outage was an error made during a planned maintenance upgrade, which meant our data storage system was briefly disconnected from our email servers . While the storage system was quickly re-attached, the additional time it took to restore full services was because of the need to ensure our email servers did not lose any emails . As a result of this prudent approach no data was lost when the servers were restored . The error was not due to a system failure or an external attack . TelstraClear is confident this was an isolated issue and has put in additional controls to ensure this issue does not happen again . A few customers may be having ongoing issues with accessing their email accounts . This is due to customers being prompted by their email application to change their password when they logged back into their email accounts . If you are still experiencing issues, you will need to revert back to your original password or reset your password . If you reset your password via the Customer Zone section of our website, you will need to make sure it is also entered in your modem . Further information and assistance with this process can be found on our website . For resetting email passwords visit www . telstraclear . co . nz/go/emailsetup or for resetting HomePlan modem passwords visit www . telstraclear . co . nz/go/modemsetup . If you have an InHome cable modem, you will not need to reset your cable modem password . If you continue to have issues, cannot remember your previous password or require any other assistance in relation to this issue, please call us on 0508 888 800 . The Team at TelstraClear |
