| 1190854 | 2011-03-31 18:29:00 | So I loaded up a game the other day and weird squares appeared all over my monitor, so I turned the pc off because it locked up alt tab, ctrl alt delete, nothing was working. When I went to boot it back up the mobo screen had white squares and then it went black and every other screen had green squares, and it will go to Windows loading or w/e screen and from there it turns black and does nothing else. So my first thoughts were either bad hardrive or video card, bought a new video card and haven't installed it yet, still working on installing 7 back on the hardrive but everytime I try it says it gets an error during install it said the install restarted at random or something. And that happens everytime. So i'm in the process of getting a new win 7 cd. Thoughts | Norseguy (12873) | ||
| 1190855 | 2011-03-31 20:25:00 | It does sound like it could be graphics and as you got a new card you may as well try it, if the old one has faulted or is overheating it could possibly prevent windows installing. Alernatively something has got corrupted or infected on your windows install. It's best to try things one by one so as to isolate the problem. try installing the graphics card and see how you go Run the memory diagnostic from the windows 7 CD or use memtest - RAM can screw up everything. Go to the recovery console from the windows CD and run CHKDSK C: - I forget the switches to force repairs but if you type CHKDSK /? it wil give you a list edit: - if it's still possible try holding down F8 and booting into safe mode, and/or using system restore maybe leave as a last resort but If you don't have valuable data to lose delete the hard drive partiton and start from scratch |
