| 1190786 | 2011-03-31 06:31:00 | Okay, Abit Dark Raider IP35 gave out, and I have the pass card for a new SB build.... I am trying to keep costs down, as we have 2 babies under 3&1/2, + a teenager!! I will keep from the old build Calibre 9600GT 650x Silverstone PSU 1 x 120 Corsair Force SSD 1 x 640 WD Blue.. Maybe the 2 x 80GB Seagates as a Raid array for the game partition.. LCD TJ06 - 3rd build...though Id love to upgrade to Raven II! Have found ASRock P67 Pro - $200 approx pricespy.co.nz i5 2500K - approx $338 pricespy.co.nz 2 x 4GB HyperX Kingston - $180 approx pricespy.co.nz Okay, so we are looking around $750 with freight, however like the Abit, the ASRock board is 2nd Tier!.... or do I go for a CL combo deal with the Gigabyte board... www.computerlounge.co.nz $800 and with only 4GB RAM...as Im looking at 4+GB RAM, I have to go x64, however x64 works better with 6+GB Id like to go with ASR, the extreme 4 & 6 boards have had great reviews, they actually have better power delivery and of course multiple GPU x 16 slots, which I'' never need.. Id like to shoot for around 4.2Ghz of this board....certainty the extreme version would help, but, a waste on me i think! Upside I have ...1 x Kentfield Q6600 which has been running 9x333 since day 1 under Arctic Freezer pro....anyone interested in this CPU can PM me..and 2 x Corsair XMS2 1GB DIMMS to go with it... Do I go with Tier 2 board again? |

Although a quick search suggests that may not extend to full ATX boards like I gather you want from your other thread. On a side note a surprising thing I read during all the research into my own sandybridge issues is a lot of people abandoning the ASUS P8P67 pro board and using the ASROCK P67 extreme instead due to similar stability issues as I experienced. No Idea as to reliability but it seems feature and performance wise it's a good board. |

| 1190793 | 2011-03-31 20:34:00 | By the way, from CL that's the exact same board I just spent 2 weeks+ trying to get stable, although that deal has different RAM which ended up being the problem. I spent around $1200 on MB, 2500K, 8GB corsair RAM, and Windows 7 64 bit, if you go to the motherboard page they do combo deals with arange of RAM and CPU's that aren't specifically listed under the combo deals page. If you do go with it I would be keen to hear how stable it is. |

I then compared with Playtech and the prices were close enough for what I wanted I decided to stick with the one supplier (CL) in case there were any problems. I've been using it for a week and there's no MB stability issues to report. |

Yes, I saw the same thing at anandtech, was kind of hoping a few here might have tried the ASR boards....I like the idea of the ASR as I can use my 775 cooler as well.... However as someone has just pointed out, there doesnt seem to be any in NZ |
