| 1190752 | 2011-03-31 04:02:00 | Is there any software that can turn a computer into a print server and NAS? I have looked at FreeNAS but it only seems to do NAS stuff. I also want to be able to shut it down remotely. |

| 1190753 | 2011-03-31 04:26:00 | You can shut down FreeNAS remotely. Honestly, give it a whirl, it's *amazing* and does SO much more. It does things even iTunes can't, like scheduled re-scanning of directories to share through DAAP for your iTunes library!! It leaves openfiler for dead! |

| 1190758 | 2011-03-31 21:36:00 | Use any old spare second hand box, works well. Atom boards are good for low-cost, low-power, small-size. We bought a brand new Gigabyte motherboard here at work. Unfortunately the chipset for the LAN, RAID & USB3 was too new for FreeNAS, wasn't supported. I'd stick with something that's not 'bleeding edge' personally ;) |
