1190685 2011-03-31 03:06:00 cdburnerxp works fine, depends if it supports your burner. The latest version doesnt support mine. Imgburn. Depends what you want to burn. Speedy Gonzales (78)
1190686 2011-03-31 03:08:00 ISOburn usually gets a mention
Windows 7 built in burning capabilities are ok for basic stuff.

For free software visit Cnet and search through their Categories and read the user reviews. WWW.cnet.com or www.download.com - think they are the same place effectively

1190689 2011-03-31 04:32:00 I use and give away The Ashampoo range - They come on magazines as free-be's- usually a older ( previous) Version.
A Latest Aussie Magazine has Burning Elements (www.ashampoo.com) - Download the trial, and if you want the key, yell and I'll post the free key to unlock it that came with the magazine.

Just two things - If installing when you get to the options page, dont use the default (reccommended) use Advanced, and untick all but desktop icon, other wise you end up with another tool bar. Second - you can deselect the auto updates as well later on.

1190690 2011-03-31 04:40:00 How about the free Ashampoo 6 version which appears to be free on the website? My friend only wants absolutely basic and simple. She is running W XP

1190691 2011-03-31 04:44:00 6 works, just has less options / features / older Technology.

What really Annoyed me- was I paid for it once, then about two months later it came out in a mag as a free version  -- thats life :D

Edited: if you install it, then under all programs/Ashampoo - Burning - theres a complete manual/ instructions on how to use it.

1190692 2011-03-31 04:46:00 Less options and features sounds great! She is somewhat computer challenged! Will give that a trial and see how we go.... thanks so much for your advice....

that what i use. burns a disc - what more do i need :D

if it's an image I use Active ISO.

but these days i hardly use discs, HDDs are so much easier and you can reuse them and no overhead costs. no outdated discs lying around ...
