2011-03-30 11:19:00 | Just want to ask those who have used one, what is the general CPU utilisation rate and the RAM? CPU tended to hover between 40-60% doing nothing but after a while it dropped to 2-5% and 1GB RAM with 250MB free. Brand new, yeah a Acer, not mine but the deal was not a bad one. AMD Dual Core 1.0Ghz, 10" 13xx x 760 reso I think it is, 1GB but I heard that you could upgrade to 2GB. Anyone attempted? Has HDMI port and incl MS Office 2010 Word and Excel (Starter versions) and Win7 Starter. Free sleeve as well. The $950 Asus with HDMI was seen as too expensive. $550 it was. Has McAfee which could be got rid of. Being a touch typist, I just couldn't type on it. In some ways, I am glad I didn't get a Netbook. Once you learn to touch type you just cannot 2 finger point anymore ..... I can type on ultraportable laptops but Netbooks are just too small for me, the small screen for me is ok thou. Not a touchpad person either, I find the stick mouse better :D

2011-03-30 17:23:00 | So what do you want to know? Are you asking or is this a review? It sounds like Nomad went into a store and check out the mentioned netbook's resource utilisation under either Task Manager or Resource Monitor Just want to ask those who have used one, what is the general CPU utilisation rate and the RAM? CPU tended to hover between 40-60% doing nothing but after a while it dropped to 2-5% and 1GB RAM with 250MB free . Depends on what you use the netbook for . From my experience, the CPU remained well under 70% at most times when I used it . Again, memory usage depends on how many programs are running on the netbook . Brand new, yeah a Acer, not mine but the deal was not a bad one . Hmmmm, Acer . . . . AMD Dual Core 1 . 0Ghz, 10" 13xx x 760 reso I think it is, 1GB but I heard that you could upgrade to 2GB . Anyone attempted? 1368*760, maybe? Most netbooks have a dedicated compartment that you can open up for memory upgrade (i . e . you do not need to open up the entire laptop to get to the motherboard for RAM upgrade) . The upgrade process is the same as upgrading it on a normal laptop . I'm sure you can do it if you have to . Has HDMI port and incl MS Office 2010 Word and Excel (Starter versions) and Win7 Starter . Free sleeve as well . The $950 Asus with HDMI was seen as too expensive . $550 it was . Check if the Microsoft Office Suite provided is a trial version . Has McAfee which could be got rid of . Amen to that . Being a touch typist, I just couldn't type on it . In some ways, I am glad I didn't get a Netbook . Once you learn to touch type you just cannot 2 finger point anymore . . . . . I can type on ultraportable laptops but Netbooks are just too small for me, the small screen for me is ok thou . Not a touchpad person either, I find the stick mouse better :D I guess it is a matter of practice . Netbook keys are about 92% (I think?) of the size of laptop keys . Cheers :)

2011-03-30 19:12:00 | My HP Mini runs just fine the CPU has never been run very high that I can tell from general use. Instead of more RAM I put in a 2GB SD card and run ready boost, can't afford more RAM. Not being a touch typist I actually find the smaller keyboard easier to use. Battery life is good, weight is good, screen is easy to see although I haven't tried it outside. Most come with MS office starter which is free But has advertising down the right 1/3 side of the screen which is not great on such a small screen. I uninstalled office starter and replaced it with OO removed all the HP crap and installed SP1 and the programs I want then imaged the HDD. I did leave the recovery partition though so that if I ever sell it I can put it back how it was

2011-03-30 21:16:00 | Someone did buy one, was heaps cheaper than an ASUS. I just wanted to know about the cpu and ram rate of use .... I thought it was a bit high. I don't have farmers fingers but cannot touch type, i can touch type on the 12" ultraportables thou. Nah ... I couldn't even type one word properly on the NB. Maybe "the" or "a" I could but no more. It also has less of a tactile feel, that Netbooks and I have seen some newer Dell Desktops have this as well. At times I need to check my placement. Nope. Full version of MS Office 2010, fully functional included :D Just Word and Excel Starter Versions. Powerpoint and others need to be paid for. They are not a touch typist so should be fine.... RAM upgrade no slots underneath and after a quick read off the net - might need to dismantle the keyb.

2011-03-30 21:34:00 | My Asus netbook has a dual-core processor with HyperThreading, CPU usage currently sitting at 6% :D It did come with Office Starter 2010, but that disappeared when the hard drive was formatted :p

2011-03-31 08:03:00 | Being a touch typist, I just couldn't type on it. My MSI u100 actually has quite a good keyboard to type with. I was most surprised.
