1190424 2011-03-30 02:28:00 Am looking for help in selecting a Data usage device such as a meter.

For some unknown reason my use of data has changed and Vodafone keeps sending a message each month that I am about to run out of same.

I use the computer mainly for emails and Skype and no huge downloads of Movies etc.

Any advice appreciated.Ron..

1190425 2011-03-30 02:55:00 Get yourself a Linksys WRT54GL and put the Gargoyle firmware on it. It's dead simple to do and will count everything. Chilling_Silence (9)
1190426 2011-03-30 07:06:00 I've just done this, and love looking through the stats. But did fine under heavy load it would reset it's connection - so I'm actually writing something to store the downloaded file every so often, and process it. But it's great to see which machines are using data when. psycik (12851)
1190427 2011-04-02 02:12:00 Thanks for the replies, but don't want to buy a new router as have just had one given to me from Vodafone.
Great that you gurus will help the uninitiated..Regards Ron.

1190428 2011-04-02 04:01:00 That's all fine and dandy, but does the router that Vodafone just gave you support traffic monitoring, per-device bandwidth caps, and throttling? ;) Chilling_Silence (9)

You might like to try the link above.

It should tell you usage before you get a reminder. It's what I use but there again I live on my own and don't have flatmates or kids using the connection to the net.
