1190204 2011-03-29 05:30:00 i have a sony vaio laptop model vpcm1212ax. i've had it for awhile now and for some reason i cannot figure out how to change the wallpaper on it. i have tried the usual things like right clicking the background/desktop, right clicking on a picture and clicking set as wallpaper, going to the control panel clicking on display settings, but nowhere does it say anything about the wallpaper. i've even tried searching 'wallpaper' in the search box in the start menu and alls that does is take me to screensaver settings. im tired of looking at the same ol' background and want to change it. im not sure if the manufacturer made it so you can't change it or if they made exremely difficult for you to do it. whatever the issue i really want to figure this out. any help would really be appreciated thanks. lankenjl (16306)
1190205 2011-03-29 05:36:00 If win7 starter is on it, you cant change it. Thats one of its limitations. You can try this (answers.microsoft.com) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1190206 2011-03-29 05:42:00 it is windows 7 starter. that sucks that they would make it so you can't change it. is there any possible way that you can change it or would you basically have to like reprogram the whole computer to do that. lankenjl (16306)
1190207 2011-03-29 05:45:00 No . Try some of the replies in that link I posted Speedy Gonzales (78)
1190208 2011-03-29 05:51:00 Yes - Speedy posted a link at the end of his reply to a site/program that will allow you to do it.

from that site click on this link (www.sevenforums.com) or for another program that does the same thing Click on this link (renaudgerson.fr) - download button is on the right, Beta 0.8

1190209 2011-03-29 05:56:00 this link would have been very helpful and solved my problem if it didn't require me to keep the program running in order to keep the background up. i think i will just have the deal with the same ol' boring blue screen the windows logo. id rather have that than deal with keeping a pointless powerstealing program up and running all the time just to have a different picture up. this is a mistake that this corporation made when coming up with this program and not even giving you the power to personalize your own computer background. at least now i know and don't feel dumb not being able to change this setting when really you don't have the option to. thanks for your help anyways. lankenjl (16306)
1190210 2011-03-29 06:18:00 Going by the model number that you provided, Google says that it is a netbook running Windows 7 Starter.

Try Speedy's suggested solution.

1190212 2011-03-30 11:18:00 Upgrade to a better edition of Windows 7 will be a good thing to do, Starter sucks in more ways than just unchangable wallpaper.

Or, you could just install Linux. It's free!
