1190192 2011-03-29 05:00:00 i have a game on my computer and i was wondering if it was possible to play it without having to have the cd in. it gets a little annoying having to put the cd in all the time. i was told that it was not illegal to use a no cd fix if you have the game already. i have tried using the no cd fix and tried following the directions on sites like youtube but i just can't follow it well enough to do it right and get it to work. i don't know what im doing wrong or if these even work. i need help and would really appreciate if someone could help me or point me in the right direction. thanks. lankenjl (16306)
1190193 2011-03-29 05:29:00 Care to name the game?
What year (aprox) was it made? What are it's requirements? DOS? Windows 95 / Windows 2000 / Win XP.

I've managed to get DOSBOX to get an old DOS game going for me with only a CD image in place, which is great for a quick game without the drama of finding the original CD.

1190194 2011-03-29 06:18:00 the game is 18 wheels of steel across america. i think it was made in 2003 and will play on 98 and up. i have a sony vaio windows 7 starter edition and have played the game on it before so i know it works on mine. i just want to figure out how to play the game without the cd. iv'e tried the no cd fixed exe. files i've tried daemon tools and couldn't figure out how to use that i've tried bittorrent file downloads with the patches like some said, i've tried using the winzip download and nothing gives a good enough explanation on how to use these files and programs. i've never used them before and not very computer literate besides the basic functions of a computer and some other things. lankenjl (16306)

1190196 2011-03-29 07:29:00 Well this could be a touch subject :)

I think Daemon tools is the best way to go, keeping it legal and all, sorta. Use MagicISO (http://www.magiciso.com/) to create an image (ISO) of the CD and then mount it with Daemon tools. You should be able to run the game after that even if you remove the CD.

Since the game is relatively old that should work fine.

1190197 2011-03-29 17:54:00 i was told that it was not illegal to use a no cd fix if you have the game already. i have tried using the no cd fix .

If you BOUGHT the game already. Slight difference.

All you do is install the game, extract the no cd (or no dvd) to the folder containing the original game .exe and that's it.
But, if it didn't work, it may be you have the wrong version, you'd notice no cds sometimes have a version for say V1.0, or V1.1 of the game. Need the right one.

Easy. better than messing about with the likes of daemon tools etc.

But. remember you need to have actually PAID for the game and own the cd.
