However, it must be borne in mind that bending over to pick up the soap or sleeping with your mouth open in a Retirement Home is significantly less dangerous than doing so in Prison. :xmouth: Cheers Billy 8-{) |

Hands up all those people who actually believe that the commercial organisations that run rest homes, retirement villages and aged care facilities do for the altruistc reason athat they like old people and want to do the best by them, entirely without profit motive. Commercial operations, irrespective of what they may publish or put on the wall in a fancy frame have but one true mission statement. " To maximise return on investment for the Stakeholders" |

I have heard stories of certain criminals that break the law so they go to jail as life is much easier in there. Makes sense when everyone else is paying for them to have a cushy lifestyle. What happened to the days of hard labour jails, I have a theory that most criminals are lazy, they would rather steal, cheat or do deal drugs than work. If they risked doing hard labour it would solve quite a few issues in one swoop. Less criminals would break the law as life is hard in there They could do stuff like make roads, pick up trash which is productive I would guarantee prison numbers would decrease They may actually learn a skill in the process and come out the end useful to society Anyway my 2c |

This is partly because prisons can't take jobs away from the community and partly because it is expensive to monitor inmates outside the prison gates. As for rest home owners - why shouldn't they make a buck, you could get the impression on here that making money is a crime, but no it is the capitalist way. |

They could do what miltary prisoners do at the glasshouse. Dig holes fill them them back in, clean a courtyard with a toothbrush, break rocks with picks. |
