1191105 2011-04-01 07:27:00 Hello

I've recently stepped up to a three monitor setup and finally got the right cables that it should actually all work however AMDs Catalyst Control Center will only let me use 2 monitors at a time.

How would I be able to get it to change from a 2 X 1 setup to a 3 X 1??
2 of the monitors are using DVI and the last one (not going right now) is using an HDMI cable with a HDMI - Mini display port adapter.

Thanks for any help.

1191107 2011-04-01 07:51:00 Aah, I had the same problem.

I don't think you can use another monitor on the HDMI port in a split screen setup. What I did in the end is use the onboard for monitor 3. However if it is a gaming setup then that might not be an option.

However, I might be wrong. Try the Windows 7/Vista screen resolution panel or the XP display properties.

1191108 2011-04-01 07:58:00 Even with 3 or more outputs, video cards normally only let you use 2 at once.

I think you need to get an Eyefinity card (or another card) if you want 3

GIGABYTE X58A-UD3R X58 CORE i7

Win 7 I'm using and it says something similar to CCC that it can't enable the third, and yes hopefully gaming setup.
My card(s) are eyefinity ones, well I know the 6850 is and thats the model below so why wouldn't the 6870 be??

1191110 2011-04-01 08:20:00 is the adapter active?

Just looking at a thread elsewhere it says you need an active one for it to work?

In the CCC section they have, they can duplicate all three at the same time, I've just updated to the most recent CCC and both the stated one I was using and this one requires me to disable one of the two monitors that are already enabled.
I'm not sure what that guy was saying with DVI and HDMI but my GPUs have 2 DVIs, a HDMI and 2 mini display ports, not 1 display port, and the HDMI connection can work alongside one of the DVIs but it doesn't seem to be possible to get all three going at once. I'm going to restart to see if that helps anything (haven't restarted since connecting the third and installing new CCC)

1191112 2011-04-01 08:29:00 How would I know if the adapter was active??
This one is powered from the mini display port and has audio in the mini display to HDMI, so I would think it does.
Also a weird occurrence that I noticed from restarting.
The monitors on both left and right, (One using DVI the other the HDMI to mini display) were the active ones all the way up to the login screen and thats when the HDMI one gave way to my center one which is also running DVI.

Not all cards are eyefinity. Only the ones that say "Eyefinity Edition" but if you have 2 cards you may be OK - although you may need to stop using Crossfire if you want to use more then 2 monitors. I think that was an issue with nVidia SLI. Not so sure for ATi though.
