1154035 2010-11-17 22:56:00 Just curious as to the consensus from Sol etc on what the maximum send/receive size policies should be for mail server like Exchange/Lotus; there's a lot of talk about 'e-mail etiquette' regarding attachments, but I'd like to know how you guys play it.

TIA

1154036 2010-11-17 23:02:00 We have maximum message sizes at 20mb (20480kb) for both send and receive. Exactly what you set depends a lot on server load, server resources, and business requirements, but I think typically somewhere between 10mb - 25mb would be the range to consider. inphinity (7274)
1154037 2010-11-17 23:05:00 I leave it at the default, which is 10MB from memory.
Only had one person ever ask about changing this.

1154038 2010-11-18 00:29:00 Yeah depends on what you're doing. In my office (structural engineer) we exchange a lot of large files so I think our limit is pretty high. I've had no problems emailing images in excess of 150MB. roddy_boy (4115)

Sorry bud, dont see this forum much, well not at the moment anyway, having too much fun laughing at the aussie's on planet-rugby...LOL...

We set 10Mb as the max file transfer and tell them to use sendto or something if over....and say if the moan that e-mail is not a file transfer system...usually keeps them quiet!

That's got to be internal mail only, right?

1154043 2010-11-18 02:17:00 We have no restrictions in Notes internally, and 10MB externally :) Chilling_Silence (9)
1154044 2010-11-18 03:00:00 20MB on our system, anything more than that gets quarantined my mailmarshal and sends an email to us, normally we just go in and release them. Exchange settings itself is set to around 30MBs. 20MB is just the allowable limit for mailmarshal. ronyville (10611)
