This (www.guardian.co.uk) sort of explains it. Sort of.

Thoughts?

1153813 2010-11-17 06:38:00 Likewise - don't belong. Anyone having problems with this lot are having self-inflicted problems. Scouse (83)
1153814 2010-11-17 06:38:00 good for users of facebook. better intergration of the "social" side, will keep all the FB and associated stalk/spam etc. won't kill gmail. The Error Guy (14052)
1153815 2010-11-19 05:53:00 I agree with The Error Guy. Gmail has so many features and is handy in so many different ways, I think a lot will have to change to for Facebook mail to be a Gmail killer. CyberHubHost (16073)

1153819 2010-11-20 18:51:00 Seems like a bit of a waste of time. Their current chat implementation is shoddy at the best of times.

Google on the other hand have done a superb job of integrating XMPP for IM / Chat with regular email, and Facebook should take a leaf out of their book. About the only thing "new" here is the use of SMS as well as Email / IM.

Seems like a whole lot of fanfare over nothing much IMO.

Still hasn't put me off having an account though, at the end of the day there's absolutely nothing stopping a friend uploading a photo with you in it and tagging your name to it.
