1155403 2010-11-22 03:18:00 There is a lot of misinformation around.

Now they are starting to get a robot ready!

Why did the "experts" not think of that sooner ?

Why did they not start drilling that new air shaft straight away.

They keep saying the gas levels are coming down, but they are fluctuating. If they have been coming down for three days, they must have been very high to start with !

On TV1 news they keep showing a graphic which shows the explosion near the mine entrance !

Yet the guy on the loader who got blown off had to walk quite a way. How far?

If the explosion was indeed near the mine entrance then the miners should not have been affected by the blast itself as they are 2 kilometres away.

And how can that mine rescue leader Trevor Watt say that it will take 2 hours to walk that far. (he does not look very impressive to me) (the CEO does)

And how can the news media say that we have experienced mine rescue satff ! When was the last such mine disaster in New Zealand where they gained any experience. I imagine they will be miners, but with very little experience in mine rescue (with all due respect)

And the TV1 news reporter showed the gear they will be using a 1950's style aqua lung ! With a modern looking face mask.

1155406 2010-11-22 03:33:00 I think we should be able to discuss this.

I did not gte heavy with any one in the last mega post.

Surely PF1 members are an intelligent lot as we are all computer users.

All of the points I have raised in this thread are new.

And I am sick of hearing such dribble in the media so that I need to express my thoughts somewhere.

1155408 2010-11-22 03:43:00 I was hoping another one of these threads wouldn't start up. It will only start personal attacks again.

1155409 2010-11-22 03:59:00 When you get people like KarameaDave saying words like Pathetic.
That is personal.

I have raised some very valid points.
What is Pathetic ?

I would say that the rescue attempt is pathetic.

I hope the miners took plenty of cans of tuna (a la Chile miners) with them. Because they are going to need them.

Now John Dow the Chairman of Pike River Coal says it does not look likely that they will be able to attempt a rescue today or tonight. We all knew that!

1155410 2010-11-22 04:02:00 While being able to express your thoughts is a good thing, some people's opinions/comments are quite inflammatory and do nothing but cause disruption.

Digby has got this off his chest now, so let's just let this thread die.

I will not be happy if I am forced to close another thread ...

1155411 2010-11-22 04:28:00 Digby as much as I like to have an opinion as the next person and respect your right to express an opinion what you are stating is nothing short of ignorance.

1155412 2010-11-22 04:51:00 Currently no one knows for sure whats happening, if the miners are alive or dead. (or they aren't saying)

Lets just hope that miracles have not run out and they are in fact going to get out alive.

Must be frustrating for every one concerned - wanting to do something, but not putting anyone else in danger.

Lets just hope they get out alive.

Edited: just watching the live TV, so to answer one question
Yet the guy on the loader who got blown off had to walk quite a way. How far? The guys said its at 1500Mtrs from the entrance.
