1154361 2010-11-18 20:42:00 It's one thing when users call the PC a "modem" or "hard drive" but ^%$#@^&^ I've heard 3 of the staff here on the helpdesk do it now.

Hassled one and she said it's easier for the user.

Real glad I won't be here next week.

1154362 2010-11-18 21:20:00 Yeah - It makes my blood boil when ordinary folks say it but you'd expect "professionals" to have a bit of self respect! :yuck: How's anybody expected to learn unless the experts put you right? tuiruru (12277)

1154366 2010-11-18 23:01:00 They call PC's CPU.
Yeah and modem and routers.

But ..
Is a household router really a switch?
And is a modem a router? I mean a router connects to a diff network or is that a Gateway?
And should a monitor be a VDU instead? :D

1154367 2010-11-18 23:17:00 i HATE it when people call the PC box a HARD DRIVE.

It makes me want to kill them!

Even worse, a few years ago on Outrageous Fortune, a PC box was called a HARD DRIVE. It pissed me off.

Do you ever speak of 'googling' information, or tell somebody to 'google it'?
