1154613 2010-11-20 06:32:00 What about a system of nagging at him? You both txt each other on the hour, every hour. If he fails to respond you call him, if you still get bollox then you call for help.

There's the medic alarm type things, and for some folks a subsidy to help pay for them (they're about $80/fortnight - a total rip off where the suppliers are milking the govt subsidy). If he won't use it, then you could carry it instead to summon these folks to check on him at home.

(Edited from here)
Oops, forgot however that the remote unit only works when near to the home phone, so you wouldn't be able to carry it. However, if he did get the system you might still be able to summon St John to investigate him.

1154614 2010-11-20 10:17:00 Wonder whether the St John alert could be connected to a mobile ?? Don't quote me, but there was one system that you could activate manually and another that triggered whenever motionless or horizontal (as in someone who'd had a fall / seizure / etc) and triggered automatically.

Again, don't quote me on that, but may be worth checking with St John.

Now that might work, any other system involves him actually doing something, and he doesn't which is the problem.

As for txts, he hasn't learnt how to write a txt yet, he's just graduated from reading them.

Yeah, by being the way he has, he's not doing your health any good either.
This is all stress that you don't need, and it could all have been avoided (probably) if he took proper care of himself.

1154619 2010-11-21 23:24:00 My sympathies H, I understand how hard this is for you. He's a good man and it must be heart-breaking to see G affected this seriously. You deserve support and there must be something available: maybe ask WINZ and your GP? Winston001 (3612)
1154620 2010-11-22 04:58:00 Yours truly is off to the doc on the morrow, I am to learn how to inject insulin and all the rest of it, diet etc, have being promoted from Diabetes 1 to Two.

I am most impressed with the service re the diabetes, I have virtual full time access, free of charge to this specialist nurse.

It was suggested that I wear a bracelet, I ask why, she said if you collapse due to low sugar, they might know to give me something sweet.

Why husband ignores warnings, is beyond me,they are constantly telling us what to do.

None the less hope things get better for you PCT.
