1191378 2011-04-04 09:23:00 Well as the OP said in the 1st post theyre corrupt. Thats probably the cause. If activation doesnt work, ringing the MS automated no usually works Speedy Gonzales (78)
1191379 2011-04-04 09:35:00 Read to original post correctly: The part that says:
You repair install XP only to have it demand Verification prior to loading the profile. It will hang of course. Wont let you start in safe mode and wont verify. Its not even getting to the load a profile for activation as it normally would.

Seen this countless times, do a repair install, and you get a message popping up saying you must activate windows before logging on, you click Ok to activate and it hangs.

This is 99% of the time caused by IE8, because doing a repair install puts back in the older version of IE, BUT doesn't take out IE8, which is inactive, the activation requires a working IE to work, and they both clash - hence you have to remove IE8 before doing the repair install if possible, if not normally then like the instructions I gave earlier.

IF you call MS to activate you need the code tap in to put in the phone, it wont get that far so how do you get to MS - you DONT because there is no code to enter as required.

" is there a way to extend the verification period".
I know that you do this twice LEGITIMATELY with Vista and win7. Don't Know
if it works with Win XP. Each time, you can extend the time by 30 days so you can
get 90 days full usage before problems set in.
Command prompt > run as administrator> C:\Windows\system32>
Enter " slmgr -rearm" without the quotes.
