1155415 2010-11-22 06:16:00 I have heard of a mine in Vancouver Canada that caught fire and it took 60 years for the fire below to go out ! Digby (677)
1155416 2010-11-22 06:18:00 I like the new rule they have in China to increase safety now.
The mine management have to go down with the miners each day !

(But I hear they are paying other employees to do it !)

1155420 2010-11-22 10:01:00 Digby:-

On 9/11 or 11/9/2001 343 firemen died at the World Trade Centre. They went into a building that was unsafe at the time they went apparently. Whether they were sent by the powers that be or they volunteered really makes no difference but for some reason I'm pleased I didn't send them there.

1155421 2010-11-22 10:39:00 Digby, I have a relative trapped in the Pike River mine.
Mining, particularly coal mining, is one of the most dangerous occupations in peace time.
The conditions are totally unlike most 'above ground' occupations. Safety is paramount and there will be full investigations into why, what and how this tragedy happened. We all know hindsight has 20/20 vision.
