I dont think you can call these Explosive Consultants and Bomb Squad members emotive and ignorant just because their opinion differs from the brainwashed OSH disciples. |

Could you sleep at night knowing there was a chance (however slim) that you could've saved, for example your son/brother/father, but hadn't due to possibility of your own safety or life, and condemned him to die a possibly slow death of dehydration, starvation, exhaustion? Having a burden like that weighing on my shoulders would make me run into the mine, find the biggest pocket of gas, and light a match just to rid myself of that thought. |

If someone who was an expert in such situations said to me " Don't do that, you will die" then I'd listen to him. Unless I was either retarded or unstable, in which case I'd do whatever crazy **** I had planned in my ignorance and delusion. No doubt it would end badly. This aint the movies, and that mine is a path into hell. |

Sorry, who are they and what part are they playing in the rescue? Or are they just providing the media circus some clowns? |

They don't know for sure, and possibly never will. So unless they can say and prove with 100% certainty that you would die if you entered the mine, there is still a chance. We have all heard plenty of stories of amazing courage, daring and pure luck from the wars (and plenty of tragedies), it just seems so weak to talk about not moving in. |

We know for sure the mine is saturated in methane gas, and that fires are still burning, and that your more likely to die then survive if you go in. Can you imagine being inside a 2km long tube full of a deadly poison on the brink of explosion? Any tiny thing goes wrong and you are dead.No ifs, no buts, no what ifs, just dead. Go outside, walk 2km, its a fair distance. And the tales of heroics pale in comparison to the deaths, learn from the mistakes, don't repeat them. |

Unfortunately, this incident was a classic example of a multiple-fatality event where would-be rescuers are themselves overcome in their attempt to save the initial victim, |

I walk about 3km each way to work so I have a fair idea how far it is. However, would you rather die trying to save a family member, or just walk away, condemning them to die? I know where I would stand anyway. |

| 1155552 | 2010-11-24 03:56:00 | Just been a second major explosion at least as big as the first. Police saying it is not survivable and they are going into recovery mode. Very tragic. | John H (8) | ||
