| 1192278 | 2011-04-05 11:01:00 | Tonight, while i didnt even touch my laptop, the laptop just shut down. No BSOD message or anything. It just turned itself off. Tried turning it on for a bit, plugged in my external again(for some reason i can't restart any PC or laptop with a certain USB cable...it will say error loading operating system. The problem is tied to the USB cable, not the external, i should get a new one soon...), after a short while i got a BSOD mesage about page fault in non paged area. Did a windows memory diagnostic test, all okay. Trying to do a scandisk for the last couple of days but windows immediately skips it(not even touching the laptop when it happens). Registry fix doesnt work, and fsutil dirty query c: says none of the hard drives are dirty. Trying to figure out whats causing scandisk to skip automatically at the moment. Some errors that i did see in event viewer : A fatal hardware error has occurred. Reported by component: Processor Core Error Source: Machine Check Exception Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error Processor ID: 0 The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xfffffa8004a978f8, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\windows\Minidump\040511-19515-01.dmp. Report Id: 040511-19515-01. Edit : External isnt dirty either. |

| 1192279 | 2011-04-05 20:17:00 | That stop error can mean there's a hardware prob (CPU/Ram/mobo). Or a driver. Make sure the ram is in properly It maybe overheating. Have a read of this (www.faultwire.com) |

| 1192282 | 2011-04-11 23:36:00 | Do you get a message on every startup that Windows is going to check the disk for errors and then it just doesn't do it? | Agent_24 (57) | ||
| 1192283 | 2011-04-12 11:26:00 | It says that a disk check was scheduled, but after that, it immediately says that the disk check was cancelled. | Question (15792) | ||
| 1192284 | 2011-04-12 11:46:00 | If this is windows 7 - click start, type in CMD - right click it, run as administrator, when it opens type in chkdsk <press enter>. Chkdsk should run - no reboot required - see if it clears it, or finds any problems. |

I have the exact same problem on a Windows XP machine. It wouldn't run CHKDSK so I forced it by setting the dirty bit on the drive, and now It tries to run every startup but cancels itself. Unfortunately I haven't bothered to fix the problem as I don't use it much. I have never had that problem with that method before. |

Chkdsk should run - no reboot required - see if it clears it, or finds any problems . Yep, clears it and finds no problems . Thanks . |

| 1192287 | 2011-04-15 07:27:00 | A fatal hardware error has occurred. Reported by component: Processor Core Error Source: Machine Check Exception Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error Processor ID: 0 The details view of this entry contains further information. This is what i see in event viewer. Any ideas to narrow down the cause? This is a pretty new laptop...and i cant afford to send it into servicing now. |
