2011-04-05 09:37:00 | I'm in strife, and it is not with Mrs T (I'm still in good with her after our holiday) it's that son again! He needs a Pat Metheny video for his studies and I tried what sounded like a good free program to rip one from Youtube, and thought I had made the correct selections for a clean download and instal, but it went feral on me and loaded all sorts of tool bars etc. I uninstalled them all then removed the program but it has left me gun-shy right now. All I want is a simple program that can capture a video and sound without drama, leave it somewhere I can find it and not drag down a load of rubbish with it. Recommendations please? Cheers Billy 8-{)

2011-04-05 09:59:00 | Plenty of freeware and websites can do the conversion for you. www.zamzar.com is what I normally use. Alternatives that I can think off the top of my head include vixy.net and videodownloader Firefox add-on. Cheers :)

2011-04-05 21:56:00 | Firefox + DownloadHelper (http://www.downloadhelper.net/) is a winner for me. DLH can convert the files if you need to, otherwise it will download the .flv or .mp4 direct from YouTube (and other supported sites).

2011-04-05 22:34:00 | I either use a Firefox plugin or www.keepvid.com - which runs in Java and will work in any browser. | Agent_24 (57) | |
2011-04-06 00:48:00 | cant go past DownloadHelper really - very easy one click save - all definitions and formats that are possible are available | bevy121 (117) | |
2011-04-06 02:21:00 | FF and DownloadHelper do it for me. And instead of using FLVPlayer, which seems a bit flaky, I use Media Player Home Cinema. No conversion needed. | John H (8) | |
