1192007 2011-04-04 23:09:00 Hi all, can I have your recommendations for 3 pin case fans. My existing 3 are all 4 pin molex and the new board has no less than 5 3 pin fan headers not including the CPU fan, so I would like to upgrade the fans for better noise etc... SolMiester (139)
1192008 2011-04-04 23:24:00 Difficult to reccomend without knowing your goals.

Scythe & Zalman make good Fans.

I like this www.pp.co.nz Hi airflow and reasonably quiet. Just don't use it with any kind of grill the restricts airflow as the air itself gets noisy in that case.

For eg on the rear of my case it's very quiet but on the side panel with it's perspex grill it's very loud. I first thought the panel was vibrating and causing noise but investigation showed just holding the fan in my hand near the grill was noisy.

1350rpm, pretty quiet, moves a bit of air. Just be careful with the blade tips, they are sharp!

Are they 3 pin?, they sound the business and are a great price!

I need the fan inside the square mounting,
so the 80mm F8 TC will be okay for GPU chamber
2 x 120mm F12 TC for the wind tunnel

THX

Now just got to wait for stock!!

1192014 2011-04-05 04:07:00 the design of that arctic and the cooler master I linked looks identical, main difference being the RPM. At 70CFM and 19 dBa the cooler master is the quietest high airflow fan I have found. I just found when using as an intake the design of the grill has a big impact on the noise, regardless of how quiet the actual fan is.

the arctic is rated in sone which makes a direct comparison very difficult, I would be interested in comparing them myself. Not trying to push the coolermaster :) the arctic looks very good too.

1192015 2011-04-05 04:31:00 Actually, I had the wrong ones selected...TC (temp controlled).....
dugimodo, the CM fan does have better air flow, but the cost is 2000rpm, the AC fans are 4/5 of the airflow but, only 1350 rpm....

The case doesnt get that hot anyway.....the 2 x 120mm fan simply keep the air in the wind tunnel cool for the CPU Fan.....a 80mm intake is enough for the little 9600GT for now...
