1191362 2011-04-02 05:43:00 My mouse constantly selects items I don't want to select. It sometimes does this automatically when I hover over a link or button. How do I stop this annoying behaviour --- I want to click on something to select, like we did in the old days. I presume it is some kind of dumbed-down behaviour in W7.

PLEASE NOTE:
1) I have unchecked the option "Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse" in the Control Panel - Ease of Access Center.
2) I even suspected the mouse driver but it also happens when I use the the touch pad.

Thanks
System: Brand new laptop. W7 Professional.

1191363 2011-04-02 06:02:00 Have look in Control Panel > Folder options.

Do you want to double click to open?

1191364 2011-04-02 06:14:00 No, it's nothing to do with that. It happens even when I am looking at links on web pages! (However, for the record, Folder options is set to double-click to open.) Billy (6701)

I'll take note if it only occurs with Firefox.

1191367 2011-04-02 06:32:00 The problem wont be with windows, it will be the settings on the touchpad. The software installed by the manufacture.

Open the control panel, locate the touchpad options - Hardware/ Device settings Tapping options ( or similar) - look around and there should be the option to disable Auto Click.

Or click start, type in mouse, select it and it may open the setting - disable auto click.

Have a look just above the touchpad as well, there may be a small button, press that and it will disable the click functions of the touchpad, then the left and right button below the pad work like left/right click.
