1191324 2011-04-02 00:40:00 Hi

Following on from here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) I've downloaded a 95MB .exe file from the M$ Download site following Speedy's link and when I run it, it produces the attached message.

Just so I don't stuff things up, where do I want to put the extracted files? Is this the actual installation happening or is it just unpacking stuff which I then have to go thru' another step to install?

Thanks

1191325 2011-04-02 00:51:00 Select the same folder the install file is in. Or create a folder in the same folder. Then extract them to that folder. There's a lot of files in it.

Then run the dxsetup file. Youre right it needs to be unpacked to run it. It's MS. It'll be too easy to run the install file once to install anything :p

They'll rather take the long way and get you to run files twice

Once unpacked, you open the folder, locate and double click on DXSETUP.exe to start the install.

1191330 2011-04-02 02:42:00 Glad it worked out. I think you may have done the advanced way for pros, the easier way is with the web installer (www.microsoft.com) which is a small download and will check your system and only pull down the bits you need.

cheers
