1155658 2010-11-22 20:19:00 Well, you'd expect that in the US where everyone is born with a V8 and four wheels semi-permanently attached. :D

Have you seen the size of Americans these days???!!! :horrified :yuck:

And Kiwis are heading that direction too!! :stare:

Yeah you see them on TV also noticed by that TM founders father who did motorbike trip across US. He saw people in mobility scooters lined up at greasy joints strange when it was the same places that got them in scooter.
Havent heard any whining here in NZ about bike lanes I would imagine you would get shot down like a Syrian MiG over Isreal.

1155660 2010-11-22 20:44:00 Plenty of bleaters here about bike lanes - a Devonport sociopath was heading a faction against the Lake Rd Cycle Lanes that was very vocal .

He's gone quiet lately though . Perhaps he's seen the error of his ways .

Or perhaps (and more likely) Devonport residents have finally realised that the presence of the cycle lanes makes absolutely no difference to their travel time in a car, and actually helps their neighbours and their children who choose to ride a bike for whatever reason, be it financial, "earth-saving", fitness, fresh air, professional sport training, personal preference etc .

1155662 2010-11-22 20:55:00 I don't think he counted on a counter-petition to his one that got more local signatures than his did. Nor did he count on the perseverance of a strong bike group (the Xpressos) made up of all sorts of people from all over the Devonport/Belmont area, and good levels of support from the local council (which, of course, is now extinct).

We didn't need to get our 'big guns' out!! :D

I vaguely remember a Dad's Army episode where Pike mounted the Tommy Gun on his bicycle.
